Other Protocols over ATM

This course describes the operation of Frame Relay transmission over ATM and Network Interworking Function (IWF). It describes how frame-based UNI (FUNI) provides access to an ATM network at T1 speed, and differentiates FUNI from DXI. The course explores Local Area Network Emulation (LANE), emulated LANs (ELANs), LAN and LANE protocols and LANE headers. The course concludes by discussing the operation of Classical IP (CLIP) over ATM and multiprotocol encapsulation over AAL5. This on-line course is part of the ATM course set.

Prerequisites

ATM Networking and ATM Addressing and Routing

Global Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to describe the operation of frame relay, LAN emulation, and multiprotocol encapsulation over AAL5.

Target Audience

This course is for network professionals and managerial staff who are interested in learning about other protocols like IP and Frame Relay over ATM.
